Let’s play together!
Who it’s for
Small humans, big sounds.
In our child-led class, kids choose, jam, and explore—singing, moving, exploring the instrument, and inventing their own music. We use evidence-based tools to build real skills while having fun. The goal? A lifelong love of music—and a musical “language” they can use anywhere, from Mozart to movie themes to their own beats.
What children will gain
Technique that feels good: small, varied practice “bites,” external-focus cues (“blend your sound”), and movement to support healthy motor learning.
Reading & notation fluency: Kodály-style rhythm syllables and solfege + intervallic “shape” reading to connect sound→symbol→instrument quickly.
Aural & improvisation skills: call-and-response, groove games, and free/structured improv that build listening, creativity, and musical conversation.
Wide repertoire: from folk and classical to jazz, pop, and world music—students help choose pieces and remix them to fit their level.
Skills to play alone & with others: Creative confidence! ensemble games, duets, and mini-projects that grow timing, listening, and confidence.
How I teach
Evidence-based & structured: short, spaced reps; mix of blocked/variable work; home “listen-then-play” loops for faster learning.
Sound before symbol (then both): sing/move first (Kodály), imitate and listen (Suzuki), then read and label intervals (Bastien/intervallic).
Playful & purposeful: Joy-first activities where kids explore, improvise, and read—play that builds real skills.
Inclusive & culturally responsive: All cultures and abilities belong—we weave home languages, styles, and supports into shared music-making.
Progress you can see
Short, child-friendly check-ins track growth in foundational skills and comprehension. Families receive updates via an online platform with practical at-home tips (5–10 minutes, no special materials needed).
Format
Available as private lessons, after-school small groups, workshops, or in-school residencies. Some materials provided; no prior music experience required.
Outcome
Curious, confident young musicians who love music, can improvise, read, and play with great technique—solo and with friends—across styles they care about.
